Vice President Business Development

Global professional services firm is looking to add a Vice President Business Development to their team. With 12 subsidiaries, they specialize in providing professional products and services in aerospace, critical mission support, and engineering & security solutions.

Vice President Business Development (VP-BD) is a key member of the Business Development Team assigned to one or more LLC’s and responsible for managing and directing business development and sales efforts to commercial, military, and US federal agency service markets. VP-BD is responsible for sourcing new or expanded government contract opportunities through the cultivation of relationships with agencies and individuals and winning opportunities.

VP-BD can live and work out of the corporate office in the Mission Valley in Northwest Montana. It is a beautiful location that provides clean air, moderate climate, access to national forests and trails to hike, bike and fish as well as two nearby ski areas. Or VP-BD can work anywhere in the US allowing for some business travel as needed.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage daily operations, financial oversight, and strategic planning for business development and sales activities by establishing and directing a geographically separated bid and proposal team.
  • Act as due diligence sentry and steward in proposal analysis, preparation, and submission. Drive risk management to eliminate significantly reduce business risk.
  • Plan sales strategies and execution of actions to fulfill services business development plan within the area of assigned responsibility. Services include aerospace support, air craft maintenance, warehouse and logistics, technical data, maintenance repair and overhaul, and other services.
  • Ensure ethics in proposal framing from a traditional and customer service perspective.
  • Manage both direct awards, including 8a and HUBZone to tribally owned entities and competitive awards. Introduce new tools and practices that focus on how to engineer customer demand for our products and services.
  • Understand the organizational development; recognize the warning signs, identify capacity issues, and gauge organizational commitment.
  • Manage the investigation and qualification of new business opportunities; identify and profile prospective clients, develop insight content to strategize each meeting opportunity, follow up and track each lead through the selling process.
  • Work with other internal companies to form teaming agreements or joint ventures for the purposes of increasing the likelihood of a successful bid.
  • Track and monitor all proposal milestones and deliverables.
  • Establish budgets, manage funding lines for all facets of the business development and sales efforts.

Background Profile:

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of marketing and/or operations management experience with a minimum of 5 years of specific Federal and/or State marketing / sales experience.
  • 4 years of government contracting (8a or IDIQ) required.
  • You must be a US Citizen
